NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage includes live text for Sunday's games on various channels, starting with the Broncos-Jets clash in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard through designated networks covering another key matchup (beginning at 9 PM BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar and following last week's talk regarding two top teams being a potential Super Bowl match-up, each lost their unbeaten records.

Notable in those games was the number of infractions both conceded. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times meaning they kind of beat themselves after leading 17-3 entering the final quarter against Denver, set to play overseas this weekend.

But it was good to observe that Denver's QB the rookie was able to overcome the shortfall and then direct three successful possessions in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the game 21-17.

The Broncos have the top defender in CB their star corner. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles are number one in red zone offence, yet the Broncos won that contest.

They had effective strategies in terms of simulated pressure. They weren't always rushing extra pass rushers but they might plug two LBs in the 'A' gap before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel from the outside.

At the start in the campaign, we said on a program that the Broncos might emerge as the current year's surprise contenders. They ended last season well and excelled in continuing that momentum.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?

New tight end Evan Engram has excelled big while new running back JK Dobbins is a player the team trusts. He now ranks 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (402) and tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).

It's impressive that the coach Sean Payton displays "RUN IT!" prominently of his playcall sheet.

This demonstrates how Denver represent a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because one can do a lot based on that approach. It slows down the pass rush while maintains in positive situations.

It's also benefited quarterback Bo Nix, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, passing for 29 TDs – second only to Justin Herbert for the rookie record (31 back in 2020).

Other elite QBs possess powerful arms to throw anywhere, however they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He has exceptional passing ability, which is different, plus he's highly agile.

His assets include his movement, the capacity to pass while moving, as well as using varied release points to deliver throws when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to throw precision throws over the middle and over the corner.

For a young quarterback, aged 25, he's got great composure under pressure and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He aims to avoid a sack as much as possible and can throw under pressure. He has sharp intelligence and remains very decisive.

When you consistently rush it eats up the clock and forces the defence to be in play extended periods, and if you have a mobile QB the defense must cover the area downfield and horizontally. This proves exhausting.

The quarterback has bitten back with the coach during games at times and I think Payton likes that attitude, that he's a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for him to have a young quarterback that is similar to moldable clay. The coach can truly build something up the way he desires to shape him. I think it's a special experience for him.

Payton has won a championship and now passed a legend for career NFL wins (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are experiencing offensively is largely due to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the combination with the QB aids make him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person guiding you, to help you during difficult moments and build self-belief.

I have faith in the Broncos' defense, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to go against a top squad at its best? Because that was not championship-level play by the Eagles in their last game.

Currently, it's unlikely the Broncos are elite. They're working above average, that's a good place to be in their division. The key to do is maintain this path.

They excel at embracing their forte, that is running the ball, and that's precisely what they must do versus the Jets in London. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

The Jets have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they're the only team yet to win any game.

Since the NFL began tracking turnovers decades ago, the Jets are also the first team to go without a single takeaway in five outings, which is surprising when you think that the head coach was previously a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.

Following this Sunday's game, Denver face a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week 12) - the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders prior to the Chiefs.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could make a run at leading the West.

It depends on which form of the Chiefs they meet because the Broncos {beat|def
