Salah Issues Regret to Teammates, Reveals Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah expressed regret to the team in the wake of the fallout from his public comments.
The Incident
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match after voicing frustrations and suggesting his rapport with Arne Slot had soured.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” the midfielder said. “He apologised to us and was like: ‘Should anyone feel slighted, I apologise.’”
The head coach has previously declined to comment publicly on whether he was apologised to from the 33-year-old forward.
Team Unity
He emphasized that the squad's reaction was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and everybody was exactly the same with him,” the midfielder explained.
He also implied that a competitor wanting to play is a positive trait. “I understand there are different methods you can express yourself,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just not start, then I think that’s a bigger problem.”
Team Form
The team's performance have remained strong in the period after the interview fallout. Jones believes the forward's comments were never meant to destabilise the squad.
“If passion has boiled over, it has consistently come from a desire to win,” the midfielder stated. “We’re past that now and we’re uniting strongly, performing and securing victories.”
