Six Individuals Detained Following 12 Million Euro Heist on Gold Refining Lab in France

Six armed perpetrators equipped with assault rifles and handguns employed explosives to break into a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, slightly injuring five employees during what is being called the newest significant daylight theft to occur in the country.

The bold operation occurred on Thursday afternoon, with law enforcement authorities swiftly apprehending the alleged criminals and securing the stolen items assessed at around 12 million euros (£10.5 million), as stated by authorities.

Five employees of the precious metals facility sustained minor injuries due to the explosion, and three employees were taken to a medical facility for evaluation, according to regional authorities. Twenty-eight workers were present on-site when the robbers attacked.

The suspects, believed to be career criminals, were detained soon afterwards in the nearby town of Vénissieux, a source close to the investigation stated.

A female participant who took part in the robbery was likewise arrested, according to law enforcement.

“Six suspects who used detonations in an assault targeting a metals processing plant in Lyon, France were arrested at the scene,” France's security official declared on social media, commending law enforcement for their “quick action, authority and management”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were likewise seized.
