The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Selected the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

This latest animated series, the newest animated adventure by Critical Role, unveiled an exciting introductory sequence. It showcases the beloved group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues fighting hard and taking names, while also hinting at several heart-wrenching personal histories for characters such as the voice actor's wizard Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, Fjord.

All in all, the opening appears stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that an element was missing in the music selection.

The intro uses "Welcome to the Continent", a truly stellar song composed by producer and singer Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the official score of the same name, the second one put out by the production company's music division their music brand. It's a wonderful nostalgic option, and I suspect that devotees of the second campaign will love its inclusion.

But for me, The Mighty Nein's opening doesn't quite capture the hype and excitement that was part of the second campaign's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", composed by musician Jason Charles Miller, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in 2015, and it only got better when co-founder Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018.

Including singing from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and fun. At the time, I hadn't even watched the second campaign at that point, but this was such an earworm that I kept it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you start an installment of fantasy hijinks.

The show's opening with "the new song" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's a grand piece of music, but based on my understanding of this party, I can't help but feel that its mood is a little off.

Naturally, Critical Role has already said that the series will have a few changes and differences from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its intro appears as among these.

This animated adventure will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. If you can't wait until then, or want a head start to get to know the characters of the second series, the actual play are available on Spotify and YouTube.
