Law enforcement officials declared on Monday that they had effectively disrupted a detailed plan to detonate explosive devices at numerous sites run by two corporate companies on New Year's Eve in the southern part of the state. The move resulted from the arrest of individuals part of an militant offshoot advocating for anti-capitalist and anti-establishment ideologies.

Those Arrested Detained During Isolated Dry Run

A quartet of people were arrested last Friday in the Mojave Desert found east of Los Angeles while they were allegedly running through their planned attack. Prosecutors presented from above monitoring images to the media, that showed the individuals transporting a sizeable obscure item to a surface. Law enforcement emphasized that the arrests took place before the suspects could assemble a fully functional bomb.

Names of the Accused Released

According to the filed criminal complaint, the four individuals named are Audrey Illeene Carroll, 30; Zachary Aaron Page, 32 years old; Dante Gaffield, 24; and Tina Lai, who is 41. Each of them are said to be from the greater Los Angeles vicinity.

Reported Motivation and Group Affiliations

Even though prosecutors did not explicitly outline a motive, they stated the suspects are part of a splinter group called the Turtle Island Liberation Front. The group allegedly calls for "laborers to rise up and combat against corporate power," as per the criminal complaint.

They face involve conspiracy to commit a crime and having a destructive device. The government stated that more charges are expected in the next few weeks.

Details of the Supposed "The Midnight Sun Plan"

Officials said that one of the accused had devised a detailed blueprint last month to target multiple business locations across Southern California on New Year's Eve. The targets were described as "Amazon-type" fulfillment centers.

"This scheme was explicit," a prosecutor remarked. "It laid out a precise guide to construct explosive devices … and named numerous objectives across the county of Orange and Los Angeles."

As per the case and court documents, the plot entailed placing rucksacks filled with sophisticated IEDs that were set to be set off all at once at midnight on New Year's Eve at several places. New Year's Eve was chosen as an ideal time as the plan indicated "celebratory explosions will be going off at this time so blast noises will be less likely to be detected."

An eight-page longhand plan, called "OPERATION MIDNIGHT SUN," stated that more sites could be incorporated. The facilities were identified as premises and facilities operated by two distinct firms connected with activities involving interstate and foreign commerce.

Long-term Plans and Materials Found

The criminal complaint also revealed that two members in the collective had talked about later attacks focusing on Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and cars with explosives in 2026. One individual according to the complaint noted that such actions "would kill some and scare the rest of them."

The plotting were reportedly discussed both at an in-person meeting in Los Angeles and through an private communication application.

Photos contained in the case file depict a desert campsite with what investigators said were IED-construction components laid out on plastic folding tables.

Official documents details that the suspects "each brought explosive materials to the site, including different sizes of tubes, believed to be a chemical compound, charcoal briquettes, charcoal powder, powdered sulfur, and material to be used as detonators, among others."

Instructions also included directions on how to construct the explosives and how to prevent leaving forensic clues that could be linked back to the faction. The individuals had not long ago acquired precursor chemicals and other items, including purchases from online retailers.

Apprehension and Aftermath

Federal agents moved in last week while the suspects were rehearsing the strike in the desert near a desert community. "They owned everything they required to construct an working explosive device at that site," an official said.

As part of executed raids, investigators allegedly located signs for the Turtle Island Liberation Front at one accused's dwelling that advocated "Down with America", and "ICE Must Go". At another suspect's residence, police located a copy of the comprehensive attack blueprint.

The suspects were taken into custody without a struggle. They were due to face a judge in Los Angeles on Monday afternoon.
